New approaches to build up a drawing
The basic way to draw on the TactiPad is to make use of the entire surface and the measurements along the four sides. You can use it to make any kind of drawing. Make freehand drawings with just a pen. Or also use the ruler, triangle, protractor or compasses to make construction drawings.
The CircleFrame offers a different approach to construct a drawing. The different rotation markers combined with the three drawing tools, give way to a vast range of new creative drawing options.
The CircleFrame is a frame the size of the TactiPad with a large circle cut out of the middle. The drawing tools can be used along the perimeter and inside the circle. This way, the drawing is shaped around the center of this circle.
Use of the CircleFrame
You can use the CircleFrame in combination with the large triangle or the wedge-shaped tool. Or you can make your own tools to use in combination with the CircleFrame based on the small triangle.
The large triangle with smaller and larger waves and zigzag lines fits perfectly in the CircleFrame. It can freely rotate in the circle. Trace a shape around the edges. Rotate it by a small increment. Repeat. This way you can create wonderful overlapping tactile patterns.
The small triangle is constructed in such a way that it exactly spans a rotation of either 45, 60 or 90 degrees from one indent on the circle to another. Based on this you can make your own tools out of cardboard. Cut any shape in the middle or along a side. This way you can create patterns that can easily be repeated 4, 6 or 8 times. The variations are endless.
The indents along the outline of the circle enable you to measure angles per five degrees. Just outside of the circle, larger angles are marked with extra indications. Straight grooves show angles of 45 degrees. Drop-shaped holes are repeated every 30 degrees and can be used to draw the hours on a clock. With the markings on the wedge-shaped tool you can easily draw the minutes, so you can draw a clock with ‘real’ hour and minute hands. The wedge-shaped tool can also be used to precisely draw a pie chart to present statistical information. The compasses that come with the TactiPad can be combined with the CircleFrame in surprising ways as well.
